Step 1 - Initial Briefing with Client

  • Gather background information.

  • Identify situation.

  • Define goals/agree roles of those involved (e.g. manager, HR, participant, coach/mentor).

Step 2 - Select Coach/Mentor

  • Match background.

  • Profile.

  • Chemistry check.

Step 3 - First Meeting

  • Develop joint agreement between coach/mentor and participant.

  • Define confidentiality requirements.

  • Plan first session.

Step 4 - Session 1

  • Agree goals of the session.

  • Use of appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Develop action plan.

Step 5 - Further Coaching Sessions

  • Continued use of a variety of tools and techniques.

  • Evaluate progress.
